Rare Earth’s Rise for the Weekend; Cambridge House REE Line-Up

Heading to the Vancouver Resources Investment Conference in 1 hr, I look forward to moderating a panel Sunday at 9:00 am with Thom Calandra, Lawrence Roulston, and Eric Coffin. The Conference runs for the two days between January 22 and 23 and I look forward to hanging out with David Morgan and discussing our mutual interests in CurrencyCountdown.com, the investors’ guide to economic survival.

Yesterday was an exciting day for the rare earths market that saw several stocks prices surge. Montero (TSXV:MON) shares rose 7.14% on news that its Tumbili Target project is host to a wider zone of rare earth bearing bastnaesite mineralization and on the news that these results had the potential to add “significant tonnage to the existing resource.” The trend is continuing today and midday trading results show Globe Metals & Mining (ASX: GBE) shares up by 6.9%; Stans Energy Corp. (CVE: HRE) shares are up 8.42%; and Lynas Corp (ASX: LYC) shares are up 11.30%.

Elissa Resouces Inc. (CVE: ELI) shares are up 4.44%. Earlier this month, ELI announced that drilling had commenced on its Thor heavy and light rare earth element project in Nevada. Paul McKenzie, President and CEO of ELI stated that the Thor project has “surface representations of nine heavy and five light rare earth elements, which correspond with strong magnetic anomalies defined by both airborne and ground geophysics.”

IBC Advanced Alloys Corp. shares are up 3.33%, a positive sign given the global market uncertainty that affected the share price during the latter part of 2011. IBC President & CEO Anthony Dutton states that IBC’s fundamentals “have never been stronger…revenues are up by 75% over two years…gross profit is up over 80% [and] very high profile business initiatives are under way.” He remains optimistic that 2012 will be a stronger year for the company.
