May 1, 2012 (Source: Peak Resources) — Peak Resources (ASX: PEK, “Peak”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Emerson Stewart Consulting Group Limited as the Project Manager to conduct the Scoping Study for the development of the Company’s Ngualla Rare Earth Project in Tanzania into an operating mine.
Emerson Stewart Consulting provides project management and delivery, engineering, environmental and specialist consulting services to their blue chip clients across the resources, infrastructure and energy sectors.
The Scoping Study’s objectives are to provide for a preliminary economic assessment for the development of the rare earth Mineral Resource in the Southern Rare Earth Zone (SREZ) and the South West Alluvial Zone into an economic operation producing rare earth products. The Study will address the optimization of the production stream in delivering rare earth products to customers.
A key component of the Scoping Study will focus on defining the specification of the end products that will be primarily influenced by the metallurgical process flow sheet and technical input from potential off-take customers.
Fundamental to the optimization of the project will be the determination of the production rate for start-up operations, the market capacity, operating and capital costs and the available tonnes and grade from the resource.
The Study will also address the legal, commercial, environmental, and occupational health and safety requirements of the social licence to operate.
This next phase of the Ngualla development will add to the program of works alongside the resource drilling and the metallurgical test work to fast track and bring the project into production under the current schedule for early 2016 (Figure 1).
